R.U.R.

A Retro-futuristic cabaret.

R.U.R. – A performance created for the post-apocalyptic charms of DuPont Underground

Karel Čapek in the original R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots) introduced to the world the word “robot” back in 1920, presciently dramatizing the conflict very much part of today’s conversation: whether the combination of a robotic work force and artificial intelligence will liberate mankind from economic drudgery or threaten to overcome and destroy the human race.
The musical-theatre cabaret has been created as an exciting site-specific work for DU’s post-apocalyptic tunnel and features a chamber ensemble, puppetry and the music of composer Maurice Saylor collaborating with writer/director Susan Galbraith.
