Alliance for New Music-Theatre invites you to join us for a special evening of Afghan music and poetry on

Friday March 13 from 5-8 pm at the

Zamani House of Heritage

45714 Oakbrook Ct, Suite 100, Sterling VA

This special event is a Fundraiser to kickstart our new project:

Women of Troy / Voices from Afghanistan

Poster for WTAV at Zamani

— an ambitious cross-cultural collaboration work that retells Euripides’ most famous play about women-as-victims of war, “Trojan Women”, and set in present day Afghanistan in this new music-theatre adaptation.

Alliance is partnering with Zamani House of Heritage in Georgetown and Sterling Virginia, a 4th generation family business founded to promote and preserve the Afghan culture by working with different families throughout Afghanistan. Zamani’s aim is to create jobs in the field of art for needy families, especially Women in Afghanistan. The event will display works of art from Zamani’s collections that will be for sale – with the proceeds going to support this project.

The event will feature music by Milad Yousofi on the Rubab,

with Abigail Adams-Greenway – Harmonium,  Masud Omari – Tabla,

and Dawn Avery on the cello.

And the poetry of Alaha Ahrar and Khawaja Abdullah Ahrar, award winning poet and writer in Persian language.

Zamani House of Heritage will serve an assorted menu of traditional Afghan dishes for this event
